dog trainer position available
Wonder Puppy is hiring a part time (with eventual full-time possibility) trainer to join our amazing team! We are looking for a career-minded professional who want to specialize in puppyhood, teaching group classes, private sessions, and management of groups of puppies. Training experience, interpersonal skills, work ethic, reliability, time management, and team-oriented personality are a must. Trainer must be fully committed to positive reinforcement training and willing to teach within the bounds of specific curriculum and Wonder Way Methods and techniques.
Job Description
Leading group classes
Providing private training sessions
Management of groups of puppies
Promoting and selling services and products
Opening and closing the training center
Setting up and breaking down for services
Client and team care emails, phone calls, and zoom sessions
Helping maintain a clean and organized training center
Meeting with staff on a regular basis
Commitment to regular self-assessment for professional growth
May have opportunities to develop curriculum and materials
Pay and Benefits
Wonder Puppy currently offers $22-25/hour depending on education, certification and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
2 or more years experience as a positive-reinforcement dog trainer and commitment to using only these training methods
1 year experience teaching classes
Current CPDT-KA (or comparable positive reinforcement training certification), or willingness to obtain and maintain upon hire
Willingness to be scheduled for up to 20 full-services per week
Experience in dog industry
Experience in sales or customer service, and POS systems
Proficiency with Google products
Required Qualifications
Must love working with people and puppies
At least 21 years of age
1 year experience in animal training
Availability on evenings, weekdays, and weekends
Willingness to work on and off-site
Smart phone; ability and willingness to respond promptly to phone calls and emails.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle
Access to a computer with Zoom capabilities
Current Pet First Aid/CPR certification and CGC evaluator status, or willingness to obtain upon hire
Strong work ethic with ability to follow direction: independently motivated, communicative, organized, on-time, dependable, accepting of constructive criticism
Being a respectful and effective team member – ability to work alone and in groups
Willingness to utilize Wonder Puppy’s positive reinforcement based philosophy and methods and to follow curriculum exclusively
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of settings and outdoor weather.
