Meet the Team

Wonder Puppy trainers are nationally Certified Professional Dog Trainers-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) by the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) and members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). At Wonder Puppy, our trainers are committed to creating positive results through a positive process. We like to think of ourselves as your personal puppy parenting coaches. Not only can we show you and your puppy how to work together, we can help you to navigate all of the ups and downs of puppyhood... in a way that works for you!

Operations Manager
Brent first became a part of the Wonder Family in 2015. He has an extensive background in customer service and a fervent passion for helping people and their dogs! Brent is a registered volunteer with the Oregon Humane Society and has been blessed with a number of wonderfully sweet rescue dogs throughout his life. In fact, Brent is not just part of our team, he is also a client and proud parent to a new puppy that he and his family rescued from Mexico! Brent, his wife, and two kids, are currently learning how to train the “wonder way” by taking their puppy, Grace, through our WoGo Playgroups and the WP Signature Training Series.

Owner, Wonder Trainer
Casey is the founder and owner of Wonder Puppy. She is a national-award winner in the field of dog training; an internationally-recognized expert and speaker on canine behavior and training for the Association of Professional Dog Trainers; the Curriculum Director for Whole Dog Academy, a non-profit dedicated to improving the human-canine bond; and has helped build Wonder Puppy into a respected, four-time award-winning dog training business. In Casey’s twelve years as a professional trainer, she has had many adventures - from working with Autism Service Dogs and their families to being a Hollywood set trainer and appearing on reality TV shows.

Casey is from Knoxville, Tennessee and has a background in Psychology and animal behavior research from the College of Charleston, SC and the University of Tennessee. She draws much of her knowledge from growing up as an only child in a household where her siblings were the dogs her parents showed - German Shepherds, Borzois, and Mini-Dachshunds.

Today, Casey’s biggest inspiration is her wonder collie, Jackson, and a desire to make a positive change in how people relate to their canine companions.

Christina started her dog training career in 2008 by mentoring with Casey Newton, founder of Wonder Puppy. Over a period of four years, Christina helped build WP into the successful business it is today! In 2014, Christina took a hiatus to train and exercise dogs through her own business, PDX Dog Quest, and now she is thrilled to be back at Wonder Puppy which she considers to be her training home. At WP, Christina enjoys leading group classes, playgroups, and private lessons. She also sits on the Board of Directors and teaches future dog trainers in their Dog Trainers Certificate Program for Whole Dog Academy, a local non-profit dedicated to improving the human-canine bond. When Christina isn't training dogs, this Pacific Northwest Native can be found hiking, doing yoga, and frolicking with her two rescues, Clyde an old soul Shepherd Mix, and Nora a feisty Aussie Mix.

Kira has been working with dogs since her teenage years when her pups, Opus, a senior Beagle, and Brody, an Australian Cattle Dog, inspired her to learn more about canine body language and effective interspecies communication. More recently, she enjoyed working with goats on commercial farms before moving back home to Portland and building a career working with dogs. Kira now lives in SE Portland with her partner, a school of fish, and their two canine companions - a sweet Pointer mix, Dax and an eager Miniature American Shepherd, Bear.

Laura is the newest addition to the Wonder Puppy team, joining us August 2017. She started working with dogs while in college as an intern for an animal shelter. This is where she fell in in love with the rehabilitation and rehoming of rescue dogs. This passion propelled her into working with dogs after college and enrolling in Whole Dog Academy, a non-profit dedicated to improving the human-canine bond. As a recent graduate of Whole Dog Academy's professional dog training program, Laura hopes to continue to grow as a dog trainer at Wonder Puppy. Outside of training, Laura enjoys hiking, painting, drawing, cooking, and spending time with her dog Mark, a 5 year old German Shepherd mix.

Wonder Trainer
Terri has been training dogs professionally and working with Wonder Puppy since 2013. Terri was a late bloomer into the world of dogs, but her life quickly went from dogs not being a part of her life to dogs completing her life. It was the love of her first dog, Stella, that led her on the journey to pursuing her certification in the dog training profession. Once she became a trainer, she adopted two rescue dogs who needed to find trust and faith in the human race again. As it turns out, those pups, Demi and Brooke, have been two of the best teachers she has had yet! The love of helping her dogs to find confidence is what cultivated Terri’s passion for coaching other people in supporting their own sensitive dogs. When Terri isn't working at Wonder Puppy, she can be found enjoying fun adventures with her pups in the great outdoors, biking, gardening, and teaching yoga!
