Big Tykes (25-55lbs)

This class is taught by:

Christina Perez, CPDT-KA

Wonder Trainer
Christina started her dog training career in 2008 by mentoring with Casey Newton, founder of Wonder Puppy. Over a period of four years, Christina helped build WP into the successful business it is today! In 2014, Christina took a hiatus to train and exercise dogs through her own business, PDX Dog Quest, and now she is thrilled to be back at Wonder Puppy which she considers to be her training home. At WP, Christina enjoys leading group classes, playgroups, and private lessons. She also sits on the Board of Directors and teaches future dog trainers in their Dog Trainers Certificate Program for Whole Dog Academy, a local non-profit dedicated to improving the human-canine bond. When Christina isn't training dogs, this Pacific Northwest Native can be found hiking, doing yoga, and frolicking with her two rescues, Clyde an old soul Shepherd Mix, and Nora a feisty Aussie Mix.

Kira Moyer, CPDT-KA

Wonder Trainer
Kira joined the Wonder Puppy team in 2016. Her passions include working with the herding, sporting, and working breeds, and she has experience in competition obedience and agility with her own dogs. Kira has been working with dogs since her teenage years when her pups, Opus, a senior Beagle, and Brody, an Australian Cattle Dog, inspired her to learn more about canine body language and effective interspecies communication. More recently, she enjoyed working with goats on commercial farms before moving back home to Portland and building a career working with dogs. Kira now lives in SE Portland with her partner, a school of fish, and their two canine companions - a sweet Pointer mix, Dax and an eager Miniature American Shepherd, Bear.

WoGo®Social Puppy is the most important first class you will ever take with your puppy - for puppies 9-20 weeks of age! Far from your standard playgroup, WoGo is not just about being socially confident, it's also about being socially appropriate. It's about balancing the "go-go-go" with the "whoa!" so your puppy learns how to self-regulate when nervous or over-excited. Each session includes two trainers who will help you navigate playtime, breaks, connection with you around other puppies, and worldly socialization exercises. It will help teach your puppy how to soften her mouth, build self confidence, and develop impulse control ...and it will teach you both how to speak dog!

When should you start? ASAP after 9 weeks of age. You only get one puppyhood and the first 20 weeks the most critical time, so don't miss out. It's kind of like getting puppy vaccines for preventing fearfulness, biting, barking and aggression. Classes are by size: Tiny Tykes (up to 12lbs), Little Tykes (12-25lbs), & Big Tykes (25-55lbs)

Level: Beginner
Ages: 9 weeks to 5 months
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $25 per Session, or 5-Session Package for $115
Cancelation Policy: 24 hours notice to receive credit or refund. To cancel: log in, go to the day you have scheduled, and click "cancel".
Vaccination Requirement: First set of puppy shots + 7 days. Click here for Veterinarian Recommendation.
*If your puppy has had ANY sneezing, coughing, vomiting, or diarrhea, or lethargy within 24 hours, you may not attend class.
*This class is not for every puppy. Some puppies don't enjoy being enclosed in a small space with other youngsters. Some will prefer less stimulating environments, nature and/or older dogs. We let the puppies tell us what will help them best, and sometimes that's a good referral out. We will recommend whatever will help them thrive the best!:)

WP Recommendations:
-Dogs need a minimum of 20 positive play experiences by 20 weeks of age with 20 different pups - at least 2 times per week during their critical brain development.
-For best results, take the Good Puppy Course for basic training, aand read "Calming Signals" by Turid Rugaas.
-Do not go to dog parks while attending this program. We recommend no dog parks until after 20 weeks of age. This will help protect our puppies from parasites, viruses, and behavioral set-backs.
